Wireless Telecom Providers, Airbnbs Top Legislative Priorities for Vienna
Town of Vienna is hosting a meeting with state lawmakers later this month. Legislative session begins Wednesday in Richmond.

VIENNA, VA -- Del. Mark Keam (D-35th) and Sen. Chap Petersen (D-34th) will meet with the Vienna Town Council Saturday, Jan. 21 to discuss their 2017 legislative agenda. The General Assembly begins a 45-day session on Wednesday.
The two lawmakers will discuss legislative items the Town would like to see addressed at the General Assembly in January. Legislative cornerstones related to the Town’s infrastructure, such as transportation, water quality and community development, remain on this year’s Legislative Agenda, according to a recent article in the Vienna Voice, the Town's newsletter.
Council also requested that its state representatives address a couple of new items:

- Wireless telecommunication providers: The Town wants to maintain its legal authority to review public right-of-way applications for land on which companies may wish to place telecommunication structures.
- Airbnbs: The Town wants to keep its authority to review and regulate short-term rental activity. Speci cally, the Town wants to maintain its current zoning and tax authority over Airbnbs.
