Boyz II Men, Robert Plant, Beach Boys: Wolf Trap Summer Shows Revealed

Wolf Trap has announced its first shows for the summer season, from big-name performers to National Symphony Orchestra movie nights.

VIENNA, VA — If you're not yet counting down the days until summer, Wolf Trap's new summer concert announcements will change your mind.

Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts announced its first summer concerts at the Filene Center. The lineup highlights top performers as well as continuing partnerships with organizations like the National Symphony Orchestra and Wolf Trap Opera.

"Wolf Trap serves as a welcoming haven for all, where our thoughtfully curated roster of award-winning artists guarantees an opportunity for everyone to create long-lasting memories that span generations," said Arvind Manocha, president and CEO of Wolf Trap Foundation, in a statement. "This year, we are thrilled to open the Meadow Commons—the embodiment of our community’s commitment and support to enhance the visitor experience through elevated concessions, improved accessibility, and more. With this upgrade, we’re dedicated to ensuring that all visitors can savor the magic of a performance at Wolf Trap."

Concertgoers will see some familiar names in the summer lineup. Multi-platinum and Grammy-winning performer John Legend will return to Wolf Trap for three nights on June 4 to 6 with the Wolf Trap Orchestra, and blues guitarist Gary Clark Jr. will make his Wolf Trap debut on June 9. Robert Plant & Alison Krauss will return to Wolf Trap on June 18 and 19. The Beach Boys will bring the sounds of summer to Wolf Trap on June 2.

Other returning favorites include R&B soul performers Patti LaBelle and Gladys Knight on June 8, the sounds of New Orleans from Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue on June 15, Texas country performer Lyle Lovett on Aug. 9, ‘90s R&B pop icons Boyz II Men + Bell Biv Devoe on Aug. 17 and 18, Americana favorite Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit on Sep. 11, three nights of James Taylor on Sep. 12, 14 and 15.

Wolf Trap's Pride-focused Out & About Festival will be held for a second year on June 22 with headliner Brittany Howard and performances on three outdoor stages. Other performers will be Jenny Lewis, Kim Gordon, Quinn Christopherson, Tiny Habits, Okan, Be Steadwell, and Laura Doherty & The Heartbeats.

Artists making Wolf Trap debuts are psychedelic soul duo Black Pumas on July 28, contemporary musician Lauren Daigle on Aug. 3, indie band Waxahatchee on Sep. 6 and more. Other highlights include Grateful Dead founding member Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros featuring The Wolfpack collaborating with the National Symphony Orchestra on Aug. 28 and 29, rockers Wilco on June 20, instrumentalist Andrew Bird on Aug. 21 and folk favorites Indigo Girls and Melissa Etheridge on Aug. 25.

Along with popular performers, Wolf Trap will spotlight community partnerships with the returning community choral festival Joyfully Together with the Washington Chorus featuring Santino Fontana,Broadway in the Park with Signature Theatre, a world premiere by The Washington Ballet, and movie nights with the National Symphony Orchestra. The National Symphony Orchestra's movie nights announced so far are Star Wars: A New Hope in Concert on July 13 and Ghostbusters in Concert on July 26.

Wolf Trap Opera will host its classical, symphony and dance performances over the summer. Some highlights include a fully staged opera, Mozart’s "Così fan tutte," on June 21, 23, 27 and 29. at the Barns at Wolf Trap, Puccini’s "La bohème" with the National Symphony Orchestra on July 19 at the Filene Center, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with the National Symphony Orchestra on July 12, Kevin Puts’ Pulitzer Prize-winning opera "Silent Night" on Aug. 9, 11, 15 and 17,2024 Filene Artist in Residence, the Grammy-nominated mezzo-soprano Jamie Barton, on July 14, and The Washington Ballet on Sep. 5.

Tickets for the newly-announced performances will go on sale to the public at 10 a.m. on Feb. 16.
