  1. Gerald Kendrick Oxner of Winchester has been sentenced to two years in federal prison for illegally purchasing a handgun used in a fatal drive-by shooting in Washington, D.C. Oxner lied while buying the gun for his brother and did not disclose he was buying it for someone else. The firearm had its serial number obliterated and was allegedly used in the shooting four days later. (The Winchester Star)
  2. The Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Services is set to review Medicaid members' health coverage starting Apr. 1, 2023. Current Medicaid members will receive letters containing information about their health plan, and some may need to take further action. To prevent a lapse in coverage, members must update their mailing address and contact information, and respond to renewal notices to confirm eligibility. (Winchester Public Schools)
  3. The next Winchester City Council Meeting will be held on Tuesday, Mar. 28. The regularly scheduled meeting will be held at the Rouss City Hall Council Chambers and will begin promptly at 6:00 p.m. The agenda for this meeting will be posted on the city's website prior to the meeting date.
