  2. The B shift units of Winchester Fire and Rescue Department were dispatched to a residential structure fire on Harvest Drive on May 29. Reports indicated a fire involving a liquid propane gas cylinder. The occupants of the home managed to evacuate safely. Upon arrival, Wagon 4 observed flames at the rear of the structure, which had spread to the interior. Firefighters swiftly extinguished the blaze and conducted thorough checks for any signs of extension. Both firefighters and civilians emerged unharmed from the incident, with assistance provided by the Frederick County Fire and Rescue Department. (Winchester Fire and Rescue Department via Facebook)
  3. The Greater Shenandoah Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross in Winchester organized its annual Memorial Day observance at the National Cemetery. Despite inclement weather, around 100 individuals gathered at the cemetery to pay their respects to fallen service men and women. The event featured a speech by retired U.S. Air Force Col. Terry L.C. Stotler, who emphasized the importance of preserving the memories and stories of these heroes for future generations. (The Winchester Star)
