  1. Loudon Street from Commerce to Boscawen in Winchester will be closed for the Loudon Street Mile on Monday. The May 29 race will cause street closures from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Click here to see all upcoming Winchester road closures. (Winchester City via Twitter)
  2. On Friday night, May 26, the 100th group of Handley High School students graduated, securing the Class of 2023 a place in local history. The educational facility opened in Winchester in September 1923. Congratulations to the 308 members of the graduating class! (Subscription: The Winchester Star)
  3. Reba and David Myers, owners of Dollar Stretcher in Winchester, sued the federal government for the price of 1,560 cartons of cigarettes, which were seized during a smuggling investigation that resulted in a mistrial. The government offered to give the cigarettes back, but they had expired during the ordeal. The 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Paul V. Niemeyer agreed with other federal circuits and found the government immune from the suit. (VA Lawyers Weekly)

  • Winchester Fire and Rescue Department posted a picture on Facebook of a yellow supply line on the ground. The department asks residents to find an alternate route if they are driving and see this yellow hose, because vehicles will damage the much-needed water supply to firefighters.
