- Local middle and high school students in Winchester had the opportunity to collaborate with film industry experts at the Young Screenwriters' Conference held at Shenandoah University. The event was organized by Project Write, a nonprofit organization providing writing workshops for youth, with students selecting workshops focused on their interests such as virtual reality, esports, and scriptwriting. Despite lacking Hollywood connections, the city's students had access to valuable industry insights and experience through the conference. (The Winchester Star)
- Fort Loudoun, a historically significant military facility built in 1756 and once commanded by Col. George Washington, may still hold secrets despite being gone for nearly 300 years. The French and Indian War Foundation will use ground-penetrating radar to scan a portion of the site in Winchester, where the fort was located. Although there have been previous excavations at the site, this will be the first time GPR technology is utilized. (The Northern Virginia Daily)
- An advocacy group for cycling and walking called BikeWalk Winchester is coming to the city! Steve Policastro of Winchester rides his bicycle on Robinson Drive in Frederick County, enjoying the colorful view of blooming forsythia along the fence line, and he is taking steps to create the advocacy group in Winchester. Contact him via email at bikewalkwinchester@gmail.com if you are interested in joining. (The Winchester Star)
