$50K Powerball Winner in Woodbridge: Check Your Numbers!

More than 37,000 Virginia lottery players won something in Wednesday night's drawing.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — Nobody hit the jackpot in Wednesday's Powerball drawing, but one Woodbridge resident did strike it rich, with a $50,000 ticket.

The big $361.5 million prize went unclaimed when no tickets matched all five numbers and the powerball, but two tickets in Virginia matched four of the numbers and the powerball — a feat worth $50,000.

One of those winning tickets was sold at the 7-Eleven at 7001 Dale Boulevard.

Saturday's jackpot is starting at $415 million, with a cash payout of nearly $270 million, but those numbers are expected to climb as tickets are sold.

Lottery retailers in the state are expected to sell 800,000 Powerball tickets on Saturday alone. At peak times on Saturday, the Virginia Lottery expects to sell 1,600 Powerball tickets per minute across Virginia, according to a statement Wednesday.

We're heading toward the record payout we saw in January. It took the jackpot just three drawings to go from $355 million to $1.6 billion.
