As a result of the closure, the county will be opening another lot in Lake Ridge.

The County now has a temporary solution with more promise: it has successfully concluded negotiations with another property owner to place a temporary commuter lot with 222 spaces on land that borders the existing Lake Ridge Commuter Lot on Minnieville Road. Because PRTC already offers extensive commuter bus service at the Lake Ridge Commuter Lot, this addition will enhance the appeal of parking and slugging from there.  The new temporary lot will open on Monday, July 11.

The parking lot at First Baptist Church was largely underused and was located out of the way of the current commuter parking lots. Once hailed as a temporary solution to the lack of 750 parking spaces lost from the parking lot, the church is no longer needed.

Editor's Note: A previous version of this article incorrectly stated which entity was opening the Lake Ridge commuter lot.
