Driver Faces DUI Manslaughter Charge In Fatal Woodbridge Crash
Police have charged a driver with DUI manslaughter after a wrong-way crash killed a passenger in the car.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — A wrong-way crash that killed a vehicle's passenger in the Woodbridge area has led to a DUI manslaughter charge for the driver.
Prince William County Police charged Lesly Miraya-Mayuri, 21, of Springfield, with DUI manslaughter Wednesday in relation to the Sept. 13 fatal crash. The passenger in the driver's vehicle, identified as Elvis Gabriel Alvarez, 23, of Alexandria, died in the crash.
Miraya-Mayuri and the other vehicle's driver, a 67-year-old woman from Woodbridge, suffered serious injuries.

The crash happened around 6:07 a.m. on Sept. 13 on Caton Hill Road near Killarney Drive. Prince William County Police say a 2017 Toyota Camry heading northbound in the southbound lanes crashed head-on with a southbound 2015 Toyota Corolla.
Police believe Miraya-Mayuri, the Toyota Camry driver, was intoxicated and driving in the wrong direction when the crash happened. The driver and passenger of the Camry were not wearing seatbelts.

Miraya-Mayuri was held on a $10,000 unsecured bond. A court date is set for Oct. 9.
