Drunk Man Assaults Cop In Woodbridge: Police

A drunk man assaulted an arresting officer and then lied about his identity early Saturday in Woodbridge, say Prince William County Police.

WOODBRIDGE, VA—A drunk man assaulted an arresting officer and then lied about his identity early Saturday in the 1400 block of Bayside Avenue, according to Prince William County Police. Franklin Paul Maravilla Flores, 25, of no fixed address, was charged with assault and battery on a law enforcement officer, driving under the influence, identity theft, giving false identification to a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest.

Shortly before 1 a.m., police went to the scene for a report of two people drinking inside a parked vehicle. Police found Flores in the driver's seat with the vehicle on, and determined he was drunk. When they tried to detain him, he pushed an officer to the ground. A brief struggle ensued, after which Flores was arrested.

Minor injuries were reported both by Flores and the officer. Flores—who later was found to have provided a false name to officers—was being held without bond.
