1. Shooting From Backyard Injures Man In Woodbridge Home: Police (patch.com) — A visitor inside a Woodbridge home was shot in the lower body Monday evening when someone fired from the backyard into the residence on John Diskin Circle, police said. The 26-year-old man is expected to recover, and investigators believe the shooter fled in a vehicle and that the incident was not random, asking anyone with information to contact Prince William County police.
   

2. Prince William County approves new fire station, homeless navigation center projects (potomaclocal.com) — Prince William County has approved funding and construction contracts for a new Fire and Rescue Station 27 and an eastern Homeless Navigation Center, projects that will directly benefit Woodbridge-area residents. The fire station will add 24-hour staffed emergency medical and fire response, while the navigation center will provide shelter and help connect people experiencing homelessness to permanent housing. Both facilities are expected to be completed in 2027.
   

3. Over 800 community members sign petition requesting Potomac View staff move with students (insidenova.com) — Potomac View Elementary is slated to close after this school year, with more than 500 students expected to move to a new Woodbridge-area elementary school, but staff are not guaranteed positions there. Over 800 community members have signed a petition urging Prince William County Schools to treat the new Woodbridge school as a relocation of Potomac View so current teachers and staff can move with their students. The School Board plans a final redistricting vote in January.
   

4. Prince William Times Top 10 Teams of 2025 (princewilliamtimes.com) — Woodbridge High’s boys cross-country team capped 2025 by winning a second straight Class 6 state title, leading a strong year for Prince William County high school sports. A countywide top-10 list also highlights championship runs and near-misses by teams from Gainesville, Battlefield, Colgan, Gar-Field, Brentsville, and others.
   

5. Six Sentara hospitals listed among the best for maternity care (13newsnow.com) — Families in Woodbridge can take pride that Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center has been ranked among the nation’s best hospitals for uncomplicated maternity care. U.S. News & World Report gave the Woodbridge facility a “high performing” rating based on outcomes, C-section rates, newborn complications, and breastfeeding support, highlighting strong local options for expectant parents.
