Fake Cop Tries to Pull Over 2 Cars: Police

Flashing lights had been installed in grill and back window of a GMC Yukon, according to Prince William County Police.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — A 76-year-old Woodbridge resident is facing charges after police say he tired to pull over at least two area residents with flashing lights installed in his GMC Yukon.

Richard Ezra Turnbull, of the 13000 block of Hedgewood Drive, is charged with impersonating a police officer and reckless driving. He was released on a court summons, according to Prince William County Police.

Early Wednesday morning, a woman called 911 when she saw Turnbull's Yukon following her. After blue and white lights began flashing from the Yukon's grill, the woman pulled over, but Turnbull sped away.

A short time later, the Yukon pulled in front of the woman and turned on rear flashing lights mounted in the rear window. The woman was able to take down the tag number and contacted police.

Officers say the same vehicle was used in an incident a day earlier in the same area.
