Heat Advisory for Prince William County

Stay cool in this extremely hot weather.

Prince William County, along with most of the Northern Virginia area, is under a heat advisory from noon until 8 p.m. Tuesday. The National Weather Service forecast calls for the heat index to be in the 100s.

"A heat advisory means that a period of excessive heat is expected. The combination of temperatures in the mid to upper 90s and high humidity will create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible. The elderly, young children and pets are most at risk," said NWS.

A code orange air quality alert is in effect, which means pollution concentrations within the region may become unhealth for certain groups.
