Police: Burglary Call Leads to Charge of Manufacturing Marijuana

Officers found evidence of marijuana inside the residence as they investigated the burglary, according to Prince William County Police.

Officers investigating a burglary at a Dale City home charged the homeowner after they found that he manufactured marijuana, Prince William County Police said. 

Montrose Vereen Ham, 35, of Telfair Court, is charged with manufacturing marijuana and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. 

Officers responded on Saturday to the 4600 block of Telfair Court at 4:01 p.m., when residents of the home reported a burglary.

The residents reported that they were on an upper floor of the home when they heard glass breaking downstairs. After they heard the glass break, they ran to a neighbor's house and called the police. 

Officers found Ham at the home. They said that he was not present at the time of the burglary, but returned before the police arrived. When officers checked the home, they found evidence of marijuana inside. After an investigation, they arrested Ham. He is held on a $15,000 secured bond.

The investigation into the burglary is ongoing, according to police. Officers believe that entry was made through a rear sliding glass door, which was broken out.
