House Fire Displaces Nine People In Dumfries: Fire & Rescue

A cooking-related fire caused major damage to a two-story home early Thursday afternoon in Dumfries, according to PWC Fire and Rescue.

DUMFRIES, VA—A cooking-related fire caused major damage to a two-story home early Thursday afternoon in the 3800 block of Fairfax Street, according to Prince William County Fire and Rescue. No one was home when the fire ignited but six adults and three children were displaced.

Around 12:15 p.m., rescue units were called to the scene for a reported fire. When they arrived, fire was showing on the first floor but it was quickly extinguished. The Fire Marshal's Office has determined the cause of the fire to be unattended cooking, and the property was posted as "unsafe to occupy." The Red Cross was summoned to assist those displaced.
