Md. Man Sentenced to 10 Years for Underage Va. Prostitution Case
A Clinton, Md. man was sentenced in federal court Thursday after taking a 16-year-old runaway to Va. for prostitution.

A Clinton, Maryland man was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison Thursday for transporting a 16-year-old runaway girl into Virginia for prostitution.
Mustafa Muhammad, 36, of Clinton, Maryland, was sentenced Thursday in U.S. District Court in Richmond after a jury found him guilty of the charge in June, The Associated Press reports.
Muhammad was convicted June 24 after being indicted in April for allegedly driving the now 17-year-old girl from Maryland to a motel in Fredericksburg, Va. March 14.

Evidence presented at the trial suggests Muhammad met a 16-year-old runaway online in February 2014 and began communicating with her via text message. Muhammad later met the girl in Maryland and posted an advertisement on backpage.com advertising her for prostitution.
In March, Muhammad drove the girl from Maryland to a Holiday Inn in Fredericksburg, where he created a second advertisement for the girl for prostitution. A Stafford County sheriff’s deputy discovered the prostitution ad and arranged to meet the girl, later discovering she was a 16-year-old runaway.
