This has been a tough week for the world. It's been hard to watch the devastation in Japan, and hard to contemplate the consequences of the explosions at and radiation leaks from the nuclear power plants affected by the quake and tsunami.

These are not the only painful events of this past week, not by a long shot. But they are enough to start the conversation.
