DC Pipe Bomb Suspect Faces New Federal Charges (patch.com) — Woodbridge residents are learning more about local graduate Brian Cole Jr., now facing new federal charges for allegedly placing pipe bombs near national party headquarters in Washington. Prosecutors say bomb-making materials were found at his Woodbridge home and that he later admitted traveling to D.C. to plant the devices, which did not detonate. A judge has ordered him held in jail while his federal case proceeds.
   

2. Prince William County awards $21M contract for homeless navigation center (princewilliamtimes.com) — Prince William County has approved a $21.5 million contract to build its first homeless navigation center in Woodbridge at the former Bill Mehr Drop-In Center, slated for completion in 2027. Supervisors also funded a new fire and rescue station near Forest Park High School, expanding emergency response and shelter services that will directly impact Woodbridge and nearby neighborhoods.
   

3. Brave the cold for a cause at the 2026 Polar Plunge in Woodbridge (potomaclocal.com) — A major winter fundraiser is coming to Leesylvania State Park in Woodbridge on Saturday, Feb. 14, with residents invited to plunge into the Potomac to support Special Olympics Virginia. Hosted with strong backing from Prince William County Police, the event features team fundraising, food trucks, live music, games, and a costume contest, plus options to donate or cheer from the shore.
   

4. Gophers land former Cal defensive end TJ Bush Jr. out of transfer portal (startribune.com) — A standout defensive end from Woodbridge’s Freedom High School, TJ Bush Jr., is heading to the University of Minnesota after a productive season at Cal and earlier success at Liberty. His journey from Woodbridge to Freshman All-America honors and now a Big Ten program highlights a local athlete making a national impact.
   

5. Maduro's viral tracksuit has ties to Maryland (thebanner.com) — A Woodbridge model unexpectedly found his stock photo outfit mirrored in a viral image of Venezuela’s captured former president, suddenly putting him and Maryland’s fashion scene in the global spotlight. He calls it just another shoot, but the attention has been intense and a bit overwhelming.
