Woodbridge District Supervisor Runs For Virginia House Seat In Special Election (patch.com) — Woodbridge residents may soon see their district supervisor, Margaret Angela Franklin, on a new ballot as she runs in a Jan. 13 special election for the 23rd House of Delegates seat. The longtime Woodbridge representative highlights her work on affordable housing, schools, transportation, and child advocacy as she seeks to bring that local focus to Richmond.
   

2. State deems all Prince William County high schools only 'conditionally accredited' (princewilliamtimes.com) — Prince William County’s 13 high schools, including Woodbridge High, have all been labeled only “conditionally accredited” because the division doesn’t issue state-recommended certificates of program completion to some non-graduates. While several schools, including Woodbridge, still rate as “on track” or better on performance, the division plans to appeal the accreditation decision, and it’s unclear how long that process will take.
   

3. Three arrested after L Street shooting in Navy Yard (wjla.com) — Two Woodbridge residents and a D.C. man have been arrested after a daytime shooting on L Street SE near Navy Yard that left two men wounded. Police say the injured men shot each other, while the Woodbridge suspects face multiple firearms and ammunition charges as the investigation continues.

UPDATE: Waldorf Man Sentenced to 55 Years for Murder, Armed Robbery, Carjacking, After Violent Crime Spree Across Maryland and Virginia (smnewsnet.com) — Woodbridge residents are learning more about the armed robbery at the Noble Pond Way Sheetz, now tied to a wider violent crime spree across Virginia and Maryland. Federal prosecutors say a Waldorf man has been sentenced to 55 years in prison, and co-conspirators face long terms for a series of armed robberies, carjackings, and a fatal shooting connected to that spree.
   

5. Woodbridge man threatened by ICE impersonator worries about safety (wusa9.com) — A Woodbridge resident says a masked man posing as an ICE agent pounded on his Glen Ridge Commons apartment door, demanding entry and claiming an investigation. Prince William County police confirm the person was not with ICE and are now searching for the suspect, while immigrant advocates warn such impersonations exploit already fearful communities.
