Person Struck By Vehicle On I-95 Dies: State Police
State police said a vehicle couldn't avoid hitting a person in the travel lanes of Interstate 95 on Tuesday morning.
DUMFRIES, VA — A person was struck and killed on Interstate 95 in Prince William County Tuesday morning, according to Virginia State Police.
The crash happened around 4:56 a.m. on northbound Interstate 95 at the 152-mile marker, which is the Route 234/Dumfries Road exit. According to state police, a 2012 Toyota Corolla was heading north on Interstate 95 and was unable to avoid a pedestrian in the travel lane.
The pedestrian, Karen S. Rosa Hernandez, of Dumfries, died at the scene. Police found a disabled vehicle registered to Rosa Hernandez just south of the crash scene in the Express Lanes. A gas can was also found nearby.

The crash is under investigation. The incident had caused lane closures and delays on northbound I-95, but officials reported lanes were back open as of 8 a.m.
