PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA — A Prince William County police officer has been arrested and charged in a case involving stalking and misuse of the criminal database.

Prince William County Police started the investigation involving Godson Vondee, 42, of Stafford, in June. The police found Vondee used law enforcement databases to obtain information on the victim, a man who was known to Vondee's female acquaintance.

According to police, Vondee used the Virginia Criminal Information Network once in 2023 and four times in 2024 to get information on the victim while on duty. There was no criminal justice reason for Vondee to obtain the information. In addition, police say Vondee visited the area of the victim's residence more than once over 15 months.

When the allegations were brought to police, the police department removed Vondee's policing authority and put him on administrative leave. The police department's Office of Professional Standards and Criminal Investigations Division launched criminal and administrative investigations.

"These actions are a betrayal of our oath of office and are not reflective of the values and professionalism expected of the members of this agency," said Police Chief Peter Newsham. "Such actions violate the trust within our community, and I expect the accused to be held accountable."
