The Prince William Political Action Committee of Educators announced their recommendation that voters re-elect Supervisor Frank Principi at a press conference on Thursday. Principi is running for re-election to the Board of County Supervisors representing the Woodbridge District.
“We know that Supervisor Principi is a committed advocate of public education,” said Prince William Education Association President Bonnie Klakowicz. “He was the only member of the Board of County Supervisors to support accepting $17 million, allocated to Prince William County Schools, from the 2010 jobs bill. He contacts me frequently to see how he can be of service to our children, our families, and our schools.”
The funds were appropriated by the federal government as part of the $10 billion Education Jobs Act. Funding would have helped to keep the class sizes below the state limit by increasing the number of teachers employed, which would also have created 140 new jobs in the county.

Principi spoke to the group about the importance of adequately funding schools, saying, “We need to address the problems in our Prince William County School System, and we have to give our children’s future a higher priority in every decision we make.”
During his term in office Principi has been an active proponent of the vision of a New Woodbridge which seeks to build a stronger community through better neighborhoods, better transportation, better development choices, and a premiere education for students.
