Speeding Motorcyclist Dies After Pursuit Into Prince William County: Police

State police had pursued a motorcycle going 115 mph in the Alexandria area, leading to a pursuit and fatal crash.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — A motorcyclist died in Prince William County after a pursuit by Virginia State Police early Thursday.

Around 1 a.m. Thursday, a state trooper spotted a motorcycle going 115 mph along southbound Interstate 495 at Eisenhower Avenue in Alexandria. The trooper attempted a traffic stop, but state police said the motorcycle did not stop.

The pursuit continued onto southbound Interstate 95 and onto Exit 152A (Route 234). Police say the suspect drove onto Route 1, lost control, went off the left side of the road and struck the median. The motorcyclist was ejected and died at the scene. State police have not released the motorcyclist's identity due to next-of-kin notification.

The crash is under investigation. State police found suspected narcotics and cash on the motorcycle.
