Woman Arrested On Drug, Gun, Abuse Charges In Woodbridge: Police

A woman was arrested after being found with a concealed gun, cocaine and marijuana while driving with a teen boy in Woodbridge, say police.

WOODBRIDGE, VA—A woman was arrested early Saturday after being found with a concealed gun, cocaine and marijuana while driving with a teen boy who's a family member in the area of Dale Boulevard and Minnieville Road, according to Prince William County Police.

Genesis Gamez-Chavez, 18, of the 5200 block of Varnum Street in Bladensburg, Md., was charged with felony child neglect or abuse, possession of a scheduled I or II narcotic, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of a firearm with a schedule I or II narcotic and possession of a concealed firearm. She was held without bond.

Around 1:45 a.m., an officer on "proactive patrol" pulled over a vehicle for making an illegal U-turn. When police approached the vehicle, they detected a strong odor of marijuana, and a subsequent search turned up the drugs and the gun. The 16-year-old boy "was unharmed." Gamez-Chavez was arrested without incident.
