Woman Carjacked At Potomac Mills Mall In Woodbridge, Vehicle Recovered

An unknown group of men approached a woman during the carjacking at the Potomac Mills mall, according to police.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — A carjacking at the Potomac Mills mall in Woodbridge was among the incidents Prince William County Police responded to over the weekend.

Police had responded to the carjacking report around 8:29 p.m. Saturday to Potomac Mills at 2700 Potomac Mills Circle. The victim, a 34-year-old woman, said she was getting into her vehicle when a group of unknown men approached. The men demanded her purse and keys before fleeing in her vehicle, police say. There were no injuries.

The victim ran into the mall and contacted the police. On Sunday, police found the vehicle unoccupied on Lipscom Place, which is about three miles from the mall. Police do not have a clear description of the suspects.

Another attempted carjacking led to an arrest. Around 11:03 p.m. Sunday, police responded to the 13500block of Langtree Lane in Dale City. Police say a 30-year-old woman and an acquaintance were in a verbal argument that escalated. Police say the acquaintance tired to take the woman's keys. After a physical altercation, the suspect left the area. There were no reported injuries.

Police identified the suspect as Luis A. Maradiaga Osorto, 35, of Woodbridge. He was charged with attempted carjacking and was held without bond.

Death investigation: On September 28 at 10:20PM, officers responded to the 500 block of Harbor Side St. in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a death. The investigation revealed members of a fishing vessel located the body of a 46-year-old man floating in the water in the above area. Fire and rescue responded and removed the body from the water and confirmed the death. Preliminarily, there were no signs of foul play. The cause and manner of death is pending by the Medical Examiner’s Office. More information will be released as necessary. The investigation continues.

Felony Hit & Run Investigation: On September 28 at 7:05PM, officers responded to the intersection of the Richmond Hwy and Bel Air Rd. in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a hit & run crash. The investigation revealed the driver of a 2017 BMW X1 was traveling northbound on Richmond Hwy. with a green traffic signal. As the vehicle entered the intersection, a 2018 Nissan Altima traveling on Bel Air Rd. disregarded the red light and struck the BMW. The collision caused both vehicles to strike a 2008 Toyota Yaris in the intersection. The occupants of the striking vehicle left the area on foot prior to police arriving at the scene. The sole occupant of the BMW, a 54-year-old woman, and the sole occupant of the Toyota, a 45-year-old man, were both treated at area hospitals for non-life threatening injuries. Further investigation revealed the Nissa Altima and the license plates on the vehicle were previously reported stolen. The occupants of the Nissan were only described as black males, possibly juveniles, wearing white shirts.

Malicious Wounding: On September 29 at 6:46AM, officers responded to the 2000 block of Daniel Stuart Sq. in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a stabbing. The investigation revealed the victim, a 28-year-old man, and another man, identified as the accused, were involved in a verbal altercation that escalated. During the encounter, the accused, stabbed the victim in the arm with a broken glass bottle before contacted the police. The victim was treated at an area hospital with a non-life threatening injury. While investigating the incident, officers located the accused in the area of Bellona Rd. where he was detained without incident. The accused was also found in possession of suspected illegal drugs. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Zaire Tuncay Ezell, was arrested.
