Woman Leaves Young Child Home Alone In Woodbridge: Police

A woman was arrested after leaving her young child home alone for several hours at a home in Woodbridge, say Prince William County Police.

WOODBRIDGE, VA—A woman was arrested Monday after leaving her young child home alone for several hours in the 4000 block of Edinburg Drive, according to Prince William County Police. Norma Mendez Mendez, 48, of the aforementioned address, was charged with felony child neglect.

Shortly after 11:30 a.m., police responded to the residence for a reported possibility of child neglect. Upon arrival, they found a 5-year-old boy who had been left unattended by his mother, Mendez Mendez, for several hours. Officers were able to contact her, and she returned to the residence.

No injuries were reported, and Mendez Mendez was arrested without incident. She was released on personal recognizance.
