Woodbridge House Fire Injures 1, Displaces 6 People

One person has non-life-threatening injuries from a townhouse fire Tuesday afternoon in Woodbridge.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — One person was injured and six people were displaced in a townhouse fire Tuesday afternoon in Woodbridge, according to Prince William County Fire and Rescue.

Around 1:34 p.m. Tuesday, units responded to the 15600 block of Mendoza Lane in Woodbridge. Units found light smoke showing from the townhouse. The fire, which started in a first-floor utility closet, spread to the upper floors. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze.

One resident was taken to a medical facility with non-life-threatening injuries. There were no other reported injuries.

According to the fire department, the home had moderate damage from the fire. The home was deemed unsafe to occupy. Four adults and two children were displaced and are getting Red Cross assistance.

The fire marshal's investigation determined the fire started in the ceiling above the utility closet, but an exact cause was not specified.
