Woodbridge Police Blotter: Indecent Liberties With Student; Attempted Robbery at McDonalds; Drugs Confiscated; Cell Phone Stolen

Indecent Liberties with Student

A Gar-Field High School Language Arts teacher has been arrested after police said she was having an inappropriate relationship with a 16-year-old Woodbridge student. 

Police spokesperson Jonathan Perok said that an investigation revealed the relationship occurred over the period of the year. School officials became aware of the relationship on April 1 and immediately notified police.

Tina Marie Amato, 27 of Fredericksburg, was charged with two counts of indecent liberties by a custodian, crimes against nature and use of a communications system to facilitate certain offenses. 

Amato is being held without bond and has a court date set for May 25, 2011.

Attempted Robbery at McDonalds

A 15-year-old Dumfries boy told police he was sitting inside the off of Gideon Drive Saturday when a group of unknown males approached him.

One of the accused, Cordrey Douglas Jackson, 18 of Dumfries, patted the boy down and demanded money. The boy was able to call police. The men ran from the police but were apprehended. A police investigation revealed that Jackson and Daniel Lamont Damon, 18 of Woodbridge, attempted to rob the boy on April 1 near the Shell Gas Station at River Heritage Boulevard in Woodbridge.

Jackson was charged with two counts of attempted robbery and Damon was charged with one count of robbery from the April 1 robbery.

Marijuana and Cocaine Found in Vehicle

A 32-year-old Woodbridge man was arrested and now faces drug charges after a vehicle stop in the area of Devils Reach and Occoquan roads.

Mohammad Nader Zamani was detained under suspicions of marijuana possession. Police conducted a search that found marijuana and cocaine.

Zamani was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of a schedule I or II narcotic and unreasonable refusal.

His court date is set for April 18 and he is held on a $6,000 secured bond.

Cell Phone Theft

An 18-year-old Woodbridge woman was waiting for a bus at the PRTC terminal at 14700 Potomac Mills Road when an unknown man took her phone out of her hand and ran. 

The theft happened on March 31 at 1:50 p.m. and witnesses at the scene were able to provide police with information that helped identify the suspect. The suspect, a 15-year-old Woodbridge boy, was charged with larceny from a person.

His court date is unavailable and he is being held at a Juvenile Detention Facility.
