Woodbridge Tractor-Trailer Driver Charged in I-66 Crash

All eastbound lanes of Interstate 66 were closed Wednesday morning for a fiery crash.

Virginia State Police have charged a Woodbridge tractor-trailer driver for a fiery three-vehicle crash Wednesday morning on the eastbound lanes of Interstate 66 in Fairfax County.

According to VSP:

A tractor-trailer was traveling in the right eastbound lane when it drifted into the left lane and struck a Cadillac CTS in that lane. The tractor-trailer kept going to the left, pushed the Cadillac into the far left HOV lane where the two vehicles struck an eastbound Toyota Prius. The Cadillac spun out at that point and the tractor-trailer continued approximately 300 feet down the Jersey wall before finally coming to rest. At that point, the tractor-trailer burst into flames.

Because of the fire, all eastbound lanes of I-66 had to be shut down. By 8:14 a.m., three eastbound lanes of I-66 were open to traffic. By 9:46 a.m., all eastbound lanes were open including the HOV lane.
