2 Washington Officers Injured In Deadly 'Firefight'

The shooting happened early Sunday morning when officers responded to a domestic violence incident.

BREMERTON, WA -- Two Washington police officers were injured following a "firefight" in Bremerton that killed the suspect. The shooting happened early Sunday morning, Bremerton police said.

Bremerton police said the officers responded to a domestic violence incident around 1 a.m. Sunday when a man in an SUV began to fire his gun at officers, KOMO reported.

The officers returned fire and killed the 53-year-old Bremerton man, police said.

Both officers were taken to a nearby hospital where one underwent surgery after receiving gunshots in the abdomen, police said. The second officer is expected to be released Sunday.

No other information was immediately available.
