Coast Guard Rescues Rowers From Hood Canal
A Coast Guard helicopter worked fast Sunday evening to pull two people from a rowboat amid gusty winds along Hood Canal.

PORT ANGELES, WA — A Coast Guard rescue team successfully hoisted two people to safety from the Hood Canal on Sunday evening as they struggled to navigate their rowboat through high winds.
In a news release Monday morning, the Coast Guard said watchstanders fielded a report shortly before 6:30 p.m. after the rowers fought 35 to 40-knot winds for more than two hours. The Coast Guard launched a boat crew from Seattle and an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Port Angeles to assist the mariners.
Officials said the aircrew made it to the scene in just a little over an hour, successfully deploying a rescue swimmer who hoisted both people to safety. The helicopter transported the people in stable condition to rendezvous with family waiting at the Bremerton airport.
