Cowlitz Fire Sends 2 Officials To Hawaii
Fire Chief Dave LaFave and Battalion Chief Joe Tone were dispatched to assist with the emergency response to the Kilauea volcano eruption.

HAWAII — Two Cowlitz 2 Fire & Rescue officials from Kelso were dispatched to Hawaii on Sunday to assist with administrative duties on the Incident Management Team overseeing the Kilauea volcano eruption.
Cowlitz Fire Chief Dave LaFave and Battalion Chief Joe Tone have been serving as Deputy Incident Commander and Deputy Incident Operations, respectively, since May 6.
LaFave and Tone joined representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Army National Guard, and a Civil Support Team from Arizona, which are all working alongside emergency crews from Hawaii and Maui.

While no fatalities have been reported at this time, evacuating Hawaiian residents and monitoring changes in air quality have been top priorities for officials on the ground.
Apparently, the last time this particular volcano showed activity of this kind was in June 2014.
