'All Clear' After Central Washington University Shooter Scare
Reports of an active shooter on the CWU campus began around 6 p.m. After about an hour, police cleared the campus.

ELLENSBURG, WA — The Central Washington University in Ellensburg was thrown into panic Wednesday night after reports of an active shooter on campus. But after about an hour of searching, police neither a shooter nor any victims.
"University police reported that all buildings have been secured and the campus is safe and all-clear," CWU said on its official Twitter account around 7:15 p.m.
The school sent an alert about the situation around 6 p.m. Students and staff were told to shelter in place while local police searched the campus.

There have been other active-shooter situations at Washington colleges recently.
In February 2018, the Highline College campus was shut down due to reports of a shooting. Police later determined that someone had been lighting fireworks on campus.

In June 2014, Aaron Ybarra opened fire on the Seattle-Pacific University campus. Ybarra killed one person, but was stopped by student Jon Meis.
Lind Hall is located on the south side of the CWU campus along University Way.
