WASHINGTON — Washington's state park system is looking to recruit more than 300 people to fill seasonal roles across the state. In a news release Tuesday, Washington State Parks announced 305 openings for park aides and senior park aides, who will work from April through September.

Most of the roles are classified as non-permanent and typically last five to six months, and some park locations provide temporary housing, officials said. Park aides earn between $16 and $19, while senior aides can earn nearly $21.

According to Washington State Parks, no two days are the same for park aides, whose duties can include registering campers, cleaning up campgrounds, improving trails, staffing offices and helping visitors. Members are typically assigned to cover one large park or several small parks that are close together.

The temporary positions allow workers some flexibility and provide a mix of public-facing duties and outdoor work.

"As valued members of the Parks family, park aides span multiple generations," officials said Tuesday. "This opportunity is ideal for recent high school and college graduates, retired workers looking for an encore, military veterans transitioning to civilian employment and mid-careerists taking time to reinvent themselves."

The agency's customer service manager said park aides often can find a chance to further their career at Washington State Parks, moving into more permanent positions in conservation, construction, planning and more.
