Washington Is 2021’s 9th Most Vaccinated State: Report

Compared to other states, Washington has one of the highest vaccination rates in the country, a new study finds.

WASHINGTON — Compared to other states, Washington has one of the highest vaccination rates in the country this year, a new study finds. In fact, it ranks No. 9 overall, according to WalletHub.

With 93 percent of unvaccinated adults saying they don’t ever plan to get the COVID-19 vaccine, the personal-finance website released its vaccination report Monday.

Massachusetts took the No. 1 overall spot for having the highest vaccination rate in the country for 2021, the study found. It was followed by Vermont (No. 2), Rhode Island (No. 3), New Hampshire (No. 4) and North Dakota (No. 5).

According to WalletHub, Mississippi has the worst vaccination rate in the country. It's followed by Georgia (No. 2), Texas (No. 3), Arizona (No. 4) and Nevada (No. 5).

The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that vaccines prevented at least 10 million deaths worldwide just between the years of 2010 and 2015. A similar study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) found vaccines prevented 732,000 deaths in the U.S. between 1994 and 2013.
