T-Mobile Announces "Restructuring," Reports Say 900 Jobs Could Be Affected

Bellevue-based T-Mobile USA announced today a "restructuring" that Reuters and the Seattle Times reports that could affect 900 jobs nationwide.

The announcement comes a few months after the company announced in March that it would close seven call centers, affecting 3,300 jobs. The company at that time said that it intended to move 1,400 of its employees to other call centers, resulting in 1,900 jobs lost.

According to CEO Philipp Humm's memo posted by Engadget, thecustomer service representatives in the remaining 17 call centers, technicians in engineering, and frontline employees in T-Mobile corporate-owned stores will not be affected by the latest jobs announcement.

The company has been trying to regain its footing after concentration for a year on the failed . 

T-Mobile USA, which is owned by German company Deutsche Telekom, had  after the deal was challenged in courts by different states' attorneys general and the Department of Justice.

Along with the recent announcements of layoffs, the company recently unveiled a , and the addition of 1,000 new business sales positions, the company said.
