2 Small Earthquakes Hit Bonney Lake On Tuesday

The two earthquakes were measured on Tuesday by the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network.

BONNEY LAKE, WA - Did you feel any unusual shaking this morning?

According to the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network (PNSN), two very small earthquakes struck Bonney Lake early Tuesday morning.

The first quake was a magnitude 1.3 at a depth of over 9 miles detected just before 8 a.m. That quake was located at the edge of the plateau near 180th Drive East. The second quake was a magnitude 1.0 also at a depth of about 9 miles; that quake happened a short distance from the other one near the Lowe's store along Prairie Road East.

Meanwhile, down the road at Mt. Rainier, there has been a small swarm of quakes near the summit over the past few days - but don't worry, seismologists say that's a normal occurrence for the volcano. The PNSN measures between three and 10 quakes at the volcano each month.
