• Major state highway serving East Pierce County closed because of flooding (thenewstribune.com) — State Route 410 is closed in both directions near East Main and Traffic Avenue in Sumner, cutting off the main highway link serving Bonney Lake, Sumner, Buckley and points east due to river flooding. Bonney Lake officials are urging drivers to delay travel, while nearby Puyallup has also shut several roads and the Riverwalk Trail as high water persists.
   

• County Council plans to meet Sheriff's Department staffing request once union negotiations wrap up (gigharbornow.org) — Pierce County is boosting Sheriff’s Office funding and plans more staffing once union contract talks finish, a change that will directly affect the Foothills Detachment serving the Bonney Lake area. Councilmembers say public safety is their top budget priority, but legal limits and ongoing arbitration mean deputy positions and incentives can’t be fully finalized yet, despite strong pressure from residents in rural and unincorporated communities.
   

• Seahawks Award 15 Community Organizations Across Six States With Grant Funding (seahawks.com) — A Bonney Lake nonprofit, Empower Her Care Kits, is among 15 organizations across six states receiving grant funding from the Seahawks in honor of the team’s 50th season. The grants, up to $5,000 each, support projects tied to youth empowerment, social justice, community response, football’s future, and the military community, helping local groups expand their impact.
