Bonney Lake Man Wins $50,000; Buys First House

Enrique Ruelas of Bonney Lake stopped at AMPM (27 15th St NE) in Auburn on April 28 on his way to work and decided to purchase a “Treasure” Scratch ticket. He scratched the ticket when he got in his car and realized he won $50,000.

“I ran that scenario in my head a million times before, but I still couldn’t believe it!” Ruelas shared. “I had to lock the ticket in my glove box all night to keep it safe while I was working.”

He told Washington’s Lottery officials he’ll now get to do something he’s always dreamed of. “I’ve always wanted to own a house. Now is the perfect time to put a down payment on my first home, and maybe take a little vacation somewhere.”

A frequent Lottery player, Ruelas explained that this isn’t the first time he has won. “I’ve won smaller amounts before, $50 or $100 here and there. The secret to my success is to scratch all of the corners first, then the rows.”
