Crews Break Ground On $38M Sumner High Modernization Project
The construction will add a new library, kitchen, cafeteria, and more classrooms to the west campus.

SUMNER, WA - Some major changes are headed to Sumner High School: Thursday, crews began work on a $37.8 million modernization of the school's campus.
As The News Tribune first reported, Sumner High was first built in 1954 and has been in need of a major overhaul for years. The Sumner-Bonney Lake School District has been working since at least 2016 to overhaul the high school, but only recently finalized plans for the remodel.
As the school district explains, the project will add a new, three-story building to the high school's western campus. The building will feature a new commons, library, kitchen and cafeteria, several classrooms and new student services.
