Lake Tapps Fall Drawdown Set For November
Authorities are recommending that residents get their boats out of the water by mid-October at the latest.
BONNEY LAKE, WA —Cascade Water Alliance has announced that the annual drawdown of the Lake Tapps Reservoir will begin on November 1.
During the drawdown, the water level will be lowered from its current elevation between 541.5 and 543 feet, to around 539 feet. That may not seem like much put that way, but it can wreak havoc for boats on the shore. Unfortunately for boat owners, the drawdown is necessary so that crews can maintain the reservoir's dikes and to prevent winter weather from whipping up storms and damaging waves.
Cascade is advising residents to remove their boats from the water by mid-October at the latest. Homeowners who live along the lake shore are also advised to get their permits in order now if they want to start any work. For more on the permitting process visit Cascade Water Alliance's website.
