Loyalty Park Closed For Resurfacing To Repair Break-In Damage
This is the second resurfacing this year, after a break-in ruined the first try. The City says it really hopes people stay away this time.

SUMNER, WA — The City of Sumner has closed Loyalty Park for a second resurfacing project, and it really hopes that this time everyone steers clear while the surface settles.
As some residents may remember, the City tried once before this year to resurface the park, only to have the effort botched by a break-in. Back in June, the crews completed a brand-new resurfacing, but, while the park was closed, someone broke in overnight, leaving large, permanent divots in the fresh playground surface.
Sad news for Loyalty's playground: someone broke in last night after the new surface was poured and damaged it. We hope to still reopen on Friday, but if this damage is so severe that it causes a safety hazard, we may be forced to keep it closed longer. pic.twitter.com/2gIpYyIWAF

The park will be closed through Friday while crews work on this second resurfacing attempt. While that's happening, the City is begging residents to leave it alone, and consider checking out the nearby Rainier View and Seibenthaler parks instead.
