BONNEY LAKE, WA — Summer is a beautiful time to get out onto Lake Tapps, but unfortunately that will be harder to do this year than in years past.

That's because the City of Bonney Lake has elected to restrict the launch this summer to city residents, in an effort to limit park usage and free up space for construction crews working on the new Allan Yorke Park ballfield.

As The News Tribune first reported, earlier this month the Bonney Lake City Council voted unanimously to keep the launch ramp at 7203 West Tapps Highway E open, but only to local residents who buy a pass and keep their boat trailers parked elsewhere.

"Tow vehicles and watercraft trailers that are parked in any of the Allan Yorke Park lots or in surrounding neighborhoods are subject to having the tow vehicle and watercraft trailer impounded," the city said in a news release.

The City announced Monday that the sale of boat launch passes will begin on May 16. Passes will cost $32.82 including tax, and will be restricted to Pierce County residents who live within Bonney Lake city limits with current drivers licenses.
