SUMNER, WA — The City of Sumner is hoping to crack down after a recent spike in graffiti tagging incidents.

According to a post from the city Tuesday, there's been a rise in graffiti in local parks, damaging local property and interrupting other projects by requiring arduous clean-up efforts. To tamp down on the problem, the Sumner Police Department has increased patrols near local parks, but the city is also asking the public to help out by reporting crime.

Residents who see an incident in progress are asked to call 911. Those who stumble upon a graffiti tag after the culprit is gone, are asked to call the Police Department's non-emergency line at 253-287-4455.
