Sumner Makes Several Downtown Parking Changes
The city says they heard several complaints from downtown businesses about overlong parking times, so they're tightening some time limits.
SUMNER, WA — If you're headed to downtown Sumner for some shopping, you'll want to be aware to a few key changes to downtown parking.
According to the city, before the pandemic they had received several complaints from local businesses that the eight-hour parking limits were becoming a nuisance: businesses say it meant parking lots were often filled by commuters, before employees or customers could use the spots.
To solve the issue, the City of Sumner has changed those lots to a new four-hour maximum time limit on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. City leaders say they think that's still enough time for visitors to shop or eat downtown, but keeps them from hogging the spots all day. Meanwhile, those who work downtown can now get employee passes allowing them to park the whole day.
