Sumner Offering $320,000 Via Local Business Development Grants

SUMNER, WA — The City of Sumner is offering a total of $320,000 up to local entrepreneurs who need support developing their businesses.
The program, which was paid for using money from the city's American Rescue Plan Act funding, offers three different types of grants depending on the business. They are:
- Business grants, which range from $5,000 to $20,000.
- Restaurant grants, worth $60,000. Only two restaurant grants will be issued.
- A commissary kitchen grant of $100,000
The commissary kitchen grant would be for the construction of a kitchen that would serve local food trucks.

The city says the grants are designed to help promote local, independent businesses, and thus will not go to corporate chains or franchises.
Grant applications must be submitted by midnight, June 1.
