Sumner Power Outage Knocks Out Traffic Lights

A power outage knocked out traffic lights at several key intersections in Sumner Wednesday.

SUMNER, WA — A power outage in the Sumner area knocked out traffic lights in a few key intersections, which had city officials urging caution until the issue is resolved.

Update, 2 p.m.: power has been restored. The cause of the outage is believed to be fallen trees.

According to Puget Sound Energy, the outage started around 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, and knocked out power for roughly 605 customers. However, it also took down lights at nearby intersections like Traffic & Main and Cannery Way & W. Valley Hwy.

PSE estimated that the outage would be repaired by 12:30 p.m. In the meantime, the city reminded drivers to use dark intersections as four-way stops.
