SUMNER, WA — The City of Sumner is hoping someone knows something about a recent bout of vandalism at Loyalty Park.

According to a post from the city Tuesday, vandals carved up at least 13 of the park's trees, using what appears to be either a hatchet or a knife to tear chunks out of their bark.

The city's arborist says the trees will likely survive, but any more damage would likely kill them. To prevent that from happening and to bring the vandals to justice, the city is asking that anyone who knows anything about this incident give Sumner Police a call at 253-287-4455. Tips can also be submitted online. The city is also reminding residents that, if they see vandalism in progress, they should call 911 immediately.
