Work On Traffic Avenue Begins, Will Impact SR 410 This Week
Crews will have to close lanes of the 410 later this week as they finish adding stripes to the Traffic Ave interchange in Sumner.
SUMNER, WA — The final improvements to the Traffic Avenue interchange are underway, as crews have begun installing permanent striping alongside the road, SR 410 and the nearby on and off ramps.
Unfortunately for commuters, that work will require them to close several lanes throughout the week, which the city says will cause some traffic delays and other impacts. Here's a look at what will be closed and when:
- Tuesday: single lane closures along Traffic Ave/Thompson and the SR 410 on and off ramps between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m.
- Wednesday: nighttime striping will force single lane closures near crosswalks and stop bars across Traffic Avenue between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m.
- Thursday: more nighttime striping will cause single lane closures on SR 410's eastern and western right lanes between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m.
- Friday: the final project will force single lane closures on SR 410's eastern and western left lanes between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m.
The project is one of the final steps in a $17 million revitalization of SR 410 and Traffic Ave, reworking two intersections and adding travel lanes to the 410 to speed up traffic. It is expected to be completed by January.
