WSDOT To Lower Speed Limit on SR 162 Between Orting & South Prairie
The lower speed limits will be enforced as soon as next week.
ORTING, WA — Drivers who frequently head over SR 162 between Orting and South Prairie will want to be aware of some changes to the speed limit coming early next week.
The Washington State Department of Transportation confirms that, starting Tuesday, the speed limit will be lowered to:
- 30-miles-per-hour between mileposts 10.31 and 10.34 inside the city of Orting.
- 45-miles-per-hour between mileposts 10.34 and 17.25, from Orting to South Prairie.
Currently, the speed limit in both zones is 50 miles-per hour. WSDOT says it is lowering the speed limit following the results of a recent speed safety study, and will be working with Washington State Patrol troopers to enforce the new speed limits.
